Calling all creatives! The 1st Year Art Club is new in the school and facilitated by Ms. Toner. It’s specifically for 1st year students and welcomes all students regardless of if they do Art or not. It may even tempt students to take Art up in 2nd year! It takes place one day a week, from 4.00pm – 5.00pm. ACS Art Club is a relaxed environment that encourages investigation of different media and encourages collaborative creativity. Students have the freedom to bring in their own artwork to share among their peers or to take part in guided art activities. Throughout the year, we cover a variety of art activities – explorative drawing techniques, painting, collage, pop art self-portraits and photography to name a few! Students will also work together on a creative project that supports school initiatives. For example, in 2021 the ACS Art Club designed and decorated the corridors of the school with custom artwork to support ‘Autism Awareness Week’.
Our new chess club gives students a chance to learn new skills and meet new people. A game that can be played by all students, regardless of age, chess gives the students the chance to develop their skills in strategic planning, concentration and forward thinking. Chess is a sociable activity that helps to bring children together and break down barriers, whilst at the same time encouraging a healthy sense of competitiveness.
This is run for one hour after school Monday to Thursday. Students are supported by teachers with their homework and study.
Dance Club is a newly established club in ACS in 2022 where there is any emphasis put on keeping fit and having fun. Students from all years are welcome to join and no prior experience is required.
Students are given the opportunity to try out different dance styles such as commercial, musical theatre and contemporary etc. In the run up to Halloween and Christmas, themed dances are choreographed using the students favourite festive songs. Dance club is a safe space for students to express themselves and to have a laugh with friends.
Ardee Community School Film and Photography Club is a relatively new club open to all students and facilitated by teachers.
