Gaisce

Gaisce is a direct challenge from the President of Ireland to young people between 15 and 25 years. Gaisce helps young people to challenge themselves and grow their confidence. It is also a great addition to a CV.

Transition and 5th Year students are offered the opportunity to participate in the bronze award and then continue on to the silver award. The challenge lasts 26 weeks. Students will get involved in 4 sections: Community Involvement, Personal Skill, Physical Recreation and an Adventure Journey. It is non-competitive and students choose their own activities and goals, which will be completed in their own time.

The Adventure Journey is an overnight activity. The bronze award consists of a 25km hike over hills and mountains. This part of the award is compulsory and requires a reasonable level of fitness.
