Autism Awareness Week 2022

This week, we celebrated Autism Awareness Week. During tutorial, all of our students learned about autism. We focused on how we as a school community can accept people with autism.
Students completed a famous people with autism quiz and took part in a poster competition. The results of these will be announced next week in tutorial! Please give any posters or quiz answers to Ms Coscoran in Room 74 or put them in the box underneath the noticeboard in the new building.
A special mention to Theo Cassidy in 6LCA and Lauren Daly in Second Year who recorded messages for tutorial. Theo focused on his experiences as a person with autism and Lauren gave us top tips for being friends with someone with autism.
The students in Rang Ferdia and Rang Connolly created a noticeboard in the new building that focused on autism acceptance. During tutorial, first year students got the opportunity to fill in their own infinity symbol and write one way they could accept someone with autism. These have been added to the noticeboard.
Students in Rang Ferdia also ran a photobooth Friday in the Sensory Room. It was great to see so many students getting involved!
Ms Toner’s first year art club also created beautiful displays in the canteen and new building!
