Back Back

First Year Boys’ Gaelic Football Final.

Ardee CS 1-8
De la Salle,Dundalk 0-4
A dominant second half performance from Ardee CS was enough to secure an excellent victory against a strong De la Salle, Dundalk side, in tough conditions,in Darver.

De la Salle were playing with a stiff wind at their backs in the first half and were first on the scoresheet with a point. Minutes later, they were awarded a penalty and it seemed that the game could be getting away from the ACS lads early on. However, goalkeeper, Brooklyn Gorman, produced an excellent save to keep us in the game. Another point from DLS put them two up, until ACS brought it back with free kicks from Míchéal Reid and Captain,Adam Gillespie. The teams went in at half time with two points apiece.

ACS flew out of the traps in the second half, racing into a 0-5 to 0-2 lead within minutes of the restart with points from Adam Gillespie and Man of the Match,Séan Flynn. The ACS lads kept pressure on the keeper’s kickouts, winning the ball high up the field and converting their chances well. Míchéal Reid scored an excellent free kick to increase the lead to four. DLS created some good chances in the second half also and could have been back in the game, only for strong defending from the boys at the back, notably Seanan Taaffe and Patrick Balfe. With 15 minutes gone in the second half, Jack Dowdall was played through on goal and finished coolly under the keeper, to leave the scores at 1-5 to 3. DLS then scored their final point of the game before ACS pushed on with more scores to see out the final 10 minutes. The game finished Ardee CS 1-8 ,0-4 De la Salle.
