1st Year Boy’s Soccer Team

The first year soccer team is made up of a panel of 20 players, with 16 players eligible to make the matchday card. Given the high standard of soccer amongst our first year students, the school could easily have fielded two first team panels given the demand and quality of players. Unfortunately, the FAI does not permit this.

The competitions are made up of a northeast league and first year cup competition.

In the preliminary round of the cup before Christmas, the boys got off to a flying start, going 4-0 up against Colaiste na hInse, to eventually run out 4-2 winners.

In their first league game we got off to an exhilarating start against O'Carolan College of Nobber on Wednesday 2nd Feb, thrashing them 6-0. Outstanding team performance right across the field, with the unplayable Tadhg Gorman hitting a hatrick along with goals from Tadhg Rooney, Jack Martin and Oisin Drumgoole.

The win was even more impressive given the boys played 24 hours earlier in the cup, beating St Benildus of Dublin 4-2 to progress to the 2nd round of the competition.

Up next in the cup is St Kevin's of Finglas followed by Bremore Balbriggan in the league. Both games to be played at home.

Well done boys keep up the great performances..!
